Day 9-10: Estero Slight and Tortel
We’ve had four beautiful busy days. We’ve been lucky to have blues skies, minimal wind and temps in the mid 40’s. A storm is two days ahead of us moving south so we keep getting the nice weather after the storm.
Before the sightseeing, we saw some great birds off of the ship.

Estero Slight
Sunday we hiked along a peninsula known as Taitoa. The granite rocks and waves crashing on the rocks were impressive. At the end of the peninsula is a lighthouse that has been in continuous operation since 1914.

We saw South American sea lions resting on the rocks and some pretty horses.
Tortel
One of my favorite days was Tortel. It’s a town of 500 people. It’s been inhabited since prehistoric times and Magellan landed in 1520. The houses are constructed on a steep mountain slope and are connected with multiple boardwalks.

The highlight was a small shop that had just opened. She was still in the process of constructing it but kindly invited us in. She hand dyes and spins her wools. I bought two skeins. Adrian found a darling wall hanging. We even exchanged Whatsapp contact info so Adrian could send them some photos of the shop.

The afternoon took us to another fjord and the weather was perfect for kayaking. Adrian and Pierre had fun on the water.

Our internet connection has been slow so we are backed up on what we can download. More later :)
